Shinparam is a traditional drumming group of the Korean American community in the Twin Cities.  Its members are Korean international students, second generation Korean Americans, adult adopted Koreans, adopted Korean children and their parents, and non-Koreans with an interest in Korean traditional forms.  Some members are students at the University of Minnesota.

    There are two basic styles of Korean traditional percussion -- poongmulnori, which includes dance and choreographed formations; and samulnori, which is the seated and more formal style of drumming.
